Bio
Sundeep Waslekar is a leading international thinker on global futures, strategic foresight, and peacebuilding. He is the co-founder (2002) and president of the Strategic Foresight Group, an international think tank that has worked with governments and institutions in more than 70 countries, the United Nations, and the Council of Europe.
He is the author of A World without War published by HarperCollins India (2022) which was also published in French, Spanish and in Marathi. He is the author of Eka Dishecha Shodh, a bestselling book in his native Marathi language, with 26 editions and translations in Hindi and Urdu.
A practitioner of Track II diplomacy since the 1990s, Waslekar has mediated in the South Asian geopolitical conflicts, dialogues between Western and Islamic countries on countering terrorism, trans-boundary water disputes in Africa and the Middle East, and nuclear risk reduction among the five permanent members of the UN Security Council. Since early 2025, he has been actively engaged in Track II processes on governance of extreme AI risks.
He was invited to address the United Nations Security Council session 7818 on water, peace, and security. His conceptual contributions for global and regional transformation have been discussed in major international forum as well as the European Parliament, Indian Parliament, UK House of Commons and House of Lords.
Waslekar read Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Oxford University (1981-1983). He was awarded the D. Litt. (Honoris Causa) of Symbiosis International University, conferred by the President of India in 2011.
