Code of Conduct

Words Beyond Borders International Literature Festival (“WBB Lit Fest”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to providing a safe, respectful, inclusive, and harassment-free experience for all participants.

This Code of Conduct applies to all attendees, speakers, partners, sponsors, volunteers, and staff participating in festival-related activities, both online and offline.

1. Our Commitment

We are dedicated to fostering an environment that:

Encourages open dialogue and intellectual exchange
Respects diversity of thought, culture, and identity
Promotes dignity, inclusion, and mutual respect

2. Expected Behavior

All participants are expected to:

Treat others with respect and professionalism
Communicate thoughtfully and constructively
Respect cultural differences and viewpoints
Follow instructions from event organizers and staff
Comply with applicable laws and venue regulations

3. Unacceptable Behavior

The following will not be tolerated:

Harassment, discrimination, or intimidation of any kind
Offensive, abusive, or derogatory language or behavior
Disruptive actions that interfere with sessions or activities
Unwelcome physical contact or advances
Recording or distributing content without permission
Any form of bullying, stalking, or threatening conduct

This applies to both in-person and digital interactions.

4. Speaker and Participant Responsibility

Speakers and contributors must ensure that:

Content is respectful and does not promote hate or harm
Proper credit is given for referenced work
Discussions remain professional and inclusive

5. Reporting Concerns

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, please report it immediately:

All reports will be handled confidentially and reviewed promptly.

6. Enforcement

WBB Lit Fest reserves the right to take appropriate action, including:

Warning the individual
Removal from sessions or events
Revoking participation without refund
Restricting future participation

Serious violations may be reported to legal authorities.

7. Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to:

All festival venues and sessions
Online events, webinars, and social media interactions
Any official communication channels related to the festival

8. Respect for Intellectual Exchange

As a literature festival, we encourage diverse perspectives.
Constructive disagreement is welcome, but must always be expressed respectfully and without personal attacks.

9. Updates

We may update this Code of Conduct from time to time.
Continued participation constitutes acceptance of any updates.
