Bio
Frédéric Doré is a French career diplomat and writer. He served two-time as Ambassador of France, to Cuba and to Colombia, and as Deputy-Head of Cabinet of the French Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Doré was Director for the Americas and the Caribbean in the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Minister Counsellor at the French Embassy in Washington D.C. and Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of France to the United Nations in New York City. He held also important important responsibilities within the European Union as Director at the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU in Brussels.
He graduated from Sciences-Po Bordeaux and the National School of Administration (ENA) and holds a cerficate of Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts of New York University. His first diplomatic posting was as trainee at the French Embassy in India.
In parallel to his diplomatic work, he is a novelist. His books have been published by prestigious literary publishing houses in France. He made his debut as writer with Mustang (La Table Ronde). His last novel, L’Ami secret, published in January 2026 by Buchet-Chastel, has been unanimously praised by the critics and is currently running for literary prizes.
