Dr. Sadhna Shanker

Sadhna Shanker is an author, whose work traverses travel, literary fiction, and speculative narratives, weaving together history, memory, and the complexities of human connection. A graduate of Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi, she holds a PhD in Syrian economic history.

She has contributed extensively to national and international publications, including The Times of India, The Hindu, Indian Express, International Herald Tribune, Dainik Bhaskar, Lokmat, and The South Asian Times. She also writes regularly on her blog, The Mind Prism (http://themindprism.com).

Her debut book, Ahlan-wa-Sahlan – A Syrian Journey (2006), has been published in English, Arabic, and Hindi. This was followed by When the Parallels Meet (2007), Catching Fireflies (2016), When they Conversed (2022) and The Music in the Universe (2026) which reflect her deep observations about life, change and journeys.

Her novel Never a Disconnect (2010) stretches from India to Japan, exploring the complexities of urban Indian women. In Ascendance (2018), she ventures into science fiction, imagining a future where gender becomes a site of conflict and memory a form of resistance. The work has been translated into Hindi, Marathi, and Telugu. Her novel, Continuum (2024), is science fiction where past, present, and future intersect. Set in contemporary times yet stretching from the era of the Mahabharata into the future, it explores love, ambition, hope, and the unseen forces that shape human connections across time.

Dr. Shanker has participated in numerous literary festivals and has also served as a host and anchor with Doordarshan.

A former officer of the Indian Revenue Service, Dr. Shanker is currently a Member of the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and is based in New Delhi.
