Bio
Piotr Antoni Świtalski (born 1957) is a career diplomat with over thirty years of experience since 1986. He was Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in Marek Belka’s Government in 2005. From 2015 to 2019, he served as Head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia with the rank and title of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
He has served Poland at the United Nations, Kenya, and India, where he is the Head of the Mission since 2025. He was Permanent Representative (Ambassador) of the Republic of Poland to the Council of Europe (2005-2010). He also served the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe as a Senior Diplomatic Advisor to the Secretary General.
He studied at the University of Warsaw and the Moscow Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). He holds a PhD in history and is the author of seven books on international politics. His books are The Hourglass and the Throne. The time factor in international politics (Polish, 2020); The Armenian Revolution. He is fluent in Polish, English and Russian.
